First, BACKUP your Newton !! When was the last time you did ? No piece of software is bug free. V1.25 is backwards compatible, data wise, with previous versions. All your screens and databases will remain intact.

The Rotated Screen Syndrome
--------------------------
If you design a screen with one rotation, and view it with another, you might not be able to see all your data. So, drag all your objects to the side and then change the rotation and reposition them. Scrolling of a NewtDb screen will be implemented later.
You'll see a few cosmetic changes in the screens, but all buttons / controls will be there. This was needed as a 120/130 rotated has less screen height so I had to scrunch / move some things.
When you use UtilityDb rotated on a 120/130 a few things will be different because of a different screen height: You'll see a 'Detail' button for Screen objects when editing them. It will show / hide the detail about the object; In the Database section, the detail window that shows the Field / Database / Index Name & number / options will overlap the selection list windows. Just enter your information and tap it's close (X) box. It will re-appear when you select another item in the lists.
XferDb
------
XferDb is a Newton application that will let you send / receive databases from your desktop machines terminal program in tab delimited format. See it's documentation for more information.
What's Next ?
------------
Well, besides being able to scroll a screen., how about being able to move NewtDb soups between a card and internal memory. Just learned how to do it. Other things are in the works, bud do email again your wish list in case I've misplaced them.
The MP2K Heap Thing
-------------------
Even though the MP2K has more heap memory than the 120 and a tad less then the 130, it also has a problem in managing heap. The heap is fragmented. This means that largest chuck of data it can hold is less than a 130 and sometimes less than a 120. The results of this is that sometimes Newton can reset all by itself, under certain cercumstances. I've seen it but upon freezing many of my packages / extensions, the problem goes away. Maybe one of the other packages was the cause. The one time I saw it with NewtDb was when you have a Query acive, and the first matched record is many hundreds of records away from any unmatched records. This cause Newton to sometimes hold onto the unmatched records before it clears the heap of the unused records. If this happens to you, let me know.

NewtDb v1.24 release - 3/8/96
Included in this bundle is the latest public release of NewtDb and a utility for NCU / NBU.
V1.24 finally fixes the Date format so that you can select any formatting of a Short Date so that records will be in order when sorted or queried by date.
The NCU/NBU utility will let you see the names of your databases and the other NewtDb soups.
Please read the included documents. As with all new software, it's best to make a full backup of your Newton before installing.
